Good advice on hand-me-downs for children. Keeping them beyond 3 years is too long for my family, as well. It is fun to pass them along and see what comes your way when the need arises!

link Which is Cheaper for Diapers Now? Amazon Mom or Shopping In-Store? | Baby Cheapskate

Of interest to anyone who buys diapers on Amazon.

I do find a big convenience factor in everything I order there, and there is no sales tax (at least for now) which is an almost 10% savings here in Tennessee. However, I’m still not sure if Prime shipping will be worth it for our family in the long run.

If you’ve read my book or this blog for any amount of time, then you know that my dad is an alcoholic. He says he drank three quarts of beer a day for fourteen years. It’s important for me to follow that sentence with this one: he has been sober for over twenty years, loves Jesus, and has good sense. But the use and abuse of alcohol is part of our family history, for better or worse. It seems to me the people most qualified to talk about hope are the ones who have been hopeless and lived to tell about it. Dad knows hopeless. Yet, he lives. And now he’s telling about it.

link She Laughs at the Days: So You're Worried Your Wife is Getting Fat

Okay, this is not frugality-related, but I thought someone might find Carrien’s article as insightful as I did. She analyzes the reasons why a wife/mom might turn to food and suggests positive alternatives that seem realistic and encouraging.

Sometimes I think a few extra “thank you’s” would fill me up longer than an ice cream ever could.

You only have one life! Don’t live it encased in a screen. When you begin to do this, when you begin to really look at your life with gratefulness and thanksgiving, you will begin to see it in a different light. Then, and only then, will you be able to take your foot off the brake and go back to looking at blog updates and Facebook stats without that knawing worm of discontent

Children’s socks and underwear are my biggest clothing expense (all else easily found at thrift stores.) I admire the way Michele remakes tights into socks…and a headband!
