Not Your Mother’s Make-Ahead and Freeze Cookbook

After a rough two weeks of car trouble, must-go events, and sick kids, I am grateful that I had this cookbook on hand. Jessica’s new collection of recipes has a fresher, Mexican-influenced take on freezer meals. She also features shorter cooking plans that don’t require a whole day in the kitchen at once.

I whipped up cocoa brownies to freeze ahead when I knew I wouldn’t otherwise have been able to contribute to 3 bake sales. I slow cooked a pork shoulder for the first time, simmered red Texas chili for a neighborhood cookoff, and froze enchiladas for the next few carpool days. I was thrilled to receive a copy of this book for review, but even happier that to find freezer recipes that my own family will actually eat.
